8 Steps to Happiness | Wednesdays 7-8.15pm | May 10, 17, 24 & 31

The quickest way to increase our happiness is to keep our mind anchored to positive thoughts, good intentions, and wisdom. On this course, Buddhist Teacher Diana Waterhouse will guide you through a series of step by step meditations that will enable you to connect with your own potential for inner peace and happiness and equip you with special practical methods for keeping a happy & positive mind all the time.

The focus of these classes will be one of Buddhism’s best loved teachings ‘Eight Verses of Training The Mind’ by the famous Buddhist meditator Geshe Langri Tangpa. These eight verses reveal powerful meditations that awaken our potential for loving kindness, compassion, and wisdom. They also teach us how we can transform lifes’ difficulties into powerful spiritual insights and in a way that enables us to remain calm and positive in the face of adversity – a skill we all need to develop.

Clarity of Mind | Wednesdays | Jun 7 & 14

The meditations of the clarity of our mind has so many benefits. Firstly, it is profoundly relaxing to dissolve all of our awareness into the clarity of our own mind in meditation. These meditations also enable us to develop strong mindfulness and deep concentration. But these meditations also offer so much more than that. Because the mind is the basis of all we know and perceive, deepening your understanding of the nature of your mind will alter the way you understand life, the universe and so on, making everything seem far more extraordinary and magical than you had ever thought possible.

How our Mind Works | Wednesdays Jun 21, 28, Jul 5

We all have a mind, and most of us know what state our mind is in – whether happy, sad, peaceful, unpeaceful and so forth. But very few of us have any awareness of how our mind functions and how this functioning of our mind impacts upon every single aspect of our life. Without understanding clearly how our mind works we will not be able to harness the power of our mind to work for us. This is the reason why we often feel that our mind is actually working against us.

At this illuminating series of drop-in meditation classes, Buddhist Teacher Diana Waterhouse will share key insights on the nature and power of the mind from the book “How to Understand the Mind” by renowned Buddhist Master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. You will learn how key mental factors operate to create your experience of happiness and suffering on a day-to-day basis. This empowering knowledge will give us tremendous ability to change our experience and access the deep levels of peace that our mind is capable of experiencing.

Let’s Talk About Death | Wednesdays Jul 12 & 19 | 7-8.15pm

We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, yet very few of us have really come to terms with this fact. By developing a deeper understanding of the death process, we can approach our own and others’ deaths with a positive perspective.
